In 1865 an invention was made, it affects both the human and the environment, and also litters the earth, Cigarette. Worldwide about 4.5 trillion cigarettes are littered each year, is that possible to clean everything?. Here a wise invention to clean the litters.
The plastic called cellulose acetate is in the cigarette butts, Which can take about a decade to decompose. It even causes water pollution as most of all litters end up in the sea. As it is tough to collect all the cigarette butts manually, A Dutch startup came up with an unusual idea that is to use crows to collect the littered cigarette butts.
Crows are the second intelligent creature in the world next to the human. They have their own rules, the way of eating and even crow is the most communicative among the birds. Yes, they are smarter than apes. They can understand water displacement, and it can create and customise tools as and when needed. It can recognise every individual human face.
So they decided to design a device that helps to clean the cigarette litters with the help of crows. The startup “Crowded Cities” has created a tool which would return food in exchange for a cigarette butt. The process is simple the crow has to find a cigarette and put it in the machine, in exchange it will get a food piece.
The device has a funnel where there will be a camera above to check what the crow brings, and The Crows should bring a cigarette filter and drop it into the funnel. The camera would recognise the filter and returns a bit of food. Crow should collect the food and start the search again and, this process works well as the crows are intelligent it’s easy to train it.
But is that loyal to enslave the crows to do the dirty work for us?, Absolutely no. The litter is because of us, and we are responsible for that. Neither we should stop smoking or please throw the cigarette butts in the desired dustbin.
