This Instagram Account Perfectly Captures The Beauty Of India’s Train Journeys From A Window Seat

There is something about train journeys in India. A sense of excitement, a sense of nostalgia, every time we step into a train and look outside at the changing landscapes of our country. It is a sight of India, the changing tapestries from outside our windows that mirror the diversity of our nation.
Peeping through the glass windows, looking at the pleasant mountains pass by, kids running and jumping around with excitement whenever the train goes through a tunnel and eagerly waiting for hawkers to prepare ‘jhaal-muri’; we all have some or the other happy memories about train journeys to remember.
However, somewhere between road trips, long drives and taking flights to save time; our love for trains are now lost. People have stopped traveling in trains as much as they did earlier. But, there is someone who is bringing that lost love back by capturing the most beautiful moments from a window seat and introducing us to the beautiful country that India is. The Window Seat Project is a crowd-sourced travelogue, started by Shanu Babar. “A picture is worth a thousand words, ” and every picture of this Instagram page echoes this sentiment loud and clear.

Thanks to Marcopolo and Tigress for making us rediscover joys of train travel. It is possible to travel by Indian railway with your pets, if you book a complete coupe ( 2 berths) or a cabin ( 4 berths) .. After booking the tickets, we submit an application two days before our departure date to the railway's Chief commercial officer for the allotment of a coupe in our case ( He is the one making first class chart)…Since the seats for the first class are only confirmed when the chart arrives at the station on the day of departure ( it is all suspense till the end) ..After getting our coupe, we registered our pets at the parcel office ( not necesary for the pets to be there physically) .. It is quite a process but totally worth it in the end.
